  • Scotland House London (SHL) is a platform comprising the Scottish Government, Scottish Development International, Visit Scotland and Food and Drink Scotland, located in central London. Collectively, platform partners work to represent the best of Scotland to London and international audiences.

  • SHL also operates a membership model for Scotland-linked entrepreneurs, SMEs, public bodies and other organisations to access hotdesking, meeting rooms and event space to support their engagement with London networks.

  • Scottish Government and agency teams at SHL work across portfolio priorities and interests as set out in the Programme for Government, including innovation, data and AI.

Vision for Public Sector Data in Scotland

  • Scottish Government together with NHS National Services Scotland and The Data Lab have been working together to bring to life a long-term vision for public sector data for Scotland.

  • A draft vision, released in October 2024, was co-created by a group of 30 individuals from across the public, private and third sector. They volunteered their time to take part in 3 facilitated workshops looking 20, 14 and 7 years into the future.

  • This resulted in a core vision statement ‘Scotland's data advances innovation and wellbeing for people and planet’. This is underpinned by 5 ambitions, objectives and enabling conditions.

  • The work supports the public sector to be more strategic in the way it approaches data, helping to increase the impact and value of data. It should give greater confidence to staff seeking to communicate the importance of improving the quality and security of data, how it is managed, analysed, accessed, and applied.

  • The team is currently establishing a ‘Realisation Group’ to take the vision forward. It will support members to act as change agents, building their capability, capacity and confidence.
