On 25 November 2020, the Democratic Society held an online panel event to share their insights into their findings during the engagement process for the development of an AI Strategy for Scotland.
An AI Strategy – Past, Present and Yet to Come
As 2020 draws to a close, and we reflect on progress in developing Scotland’s AI Strategy, it felt appropriate to frame our reflections in a similarly spirited way. We look back on the the work that we’ve done this year, what we’re working on and what we look forward to coming next year.
Asking for Advice: Public Consultation published
Earlier this year we asked people across Scotland – and further afield – what they thought about the proposals in the strategy scoping document. A consultation on the proposals ran from February to May, and attracted 83 responses from a wide range of 29 individuals and 52 organisations. You can read the findings in our Consultation Report.

This is precisely why the Scottish Government committed to developing an AI Strategy that helps realise Scotland’s potential as a tech hub whilst meeting the goals of the National Performance Framework whereby Scotland continues to be a successful country where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.
